Learning Outcome

Implement appropriate emergency treatment strategies including, but not limited to, establishing and maintaining an airway in a patient wearing shoulder pads, headgear or other protective equipment and/or with a suspected spinal injury, in multiple sports settings.

Learning Outcome

Select, fabricate, and apply appropriate protective equipment, including taping, wrapping procedures, splints, braces, and other special protective devices. Apply protective equipment and transport as part of the comprehensive, proactive emergency action plan (EAP).

Apply special tests and diagnostic instruments (ie, otoscope, stethoscope, ophthalmoscope, peak flowmeter, chemical "dipsticks" [or similar devices]) to accurately diagnose patients.
