The mission statement of the MFT program indicates that our goal is to, "be an international leader in process research that informs how change occurs and extend our healing influence beyond our programs." The purpose of this course is to enhance your ability to contribute to this goal by understanding the extant outcome and process research in our field. This course will review this literature with an eye toward the methods used to answer two basic questions: (1) Does therapy work? and (2) How does therapy work? The course will focus primarily on research design and review of the current research as opposed to analysis. The following specific Objectives are related to Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs):
